Only three years into our marriage and Rachelle has made it big time. Her restaurant just received a five-star review, and she was offered a television series where she’ll host new chefs each week.

She says she doesn’t have time for that, but I bet she figures out how to make time for it. I pull into our driveway at our huge cabin in Colorado and turn to look back at our kids.

Rachelle and I went to the children’s home on our first year anniversary and found that little Sally and Toby Portis were available for adoption, so we adopted them. A year later we had a son. We named him Josh, and he’s a little over a year old now.

Our Dalmatian, Freckles, makes her way out to greet us as Toby and Sally pile out of the Suburban. They run to the dog we got a few days after we got married. Toby pats her head as Sally runs her hand over her back and they ask her if she missed them while we were gone to the store.

I pull Josh out of his car seat then place him on the ground and he toddles away to join his brother and sister. Rachelle opens the front door and waves at me.

She had an appointment today and I’m eager to find out why as she just told me that I had the kids today then said she’d be back later. Well, its later and I’m dying to know why she went to the doctor.

Her smile is wide as I come up the steps, helping Josh get up them. The other kids rush past Rachelle to get in the house. I let Josh’s hand go as he goes inside, following his big brother and sister.
